Celebrate Women Month - 2009
1st-May-2009 07:15 pm
Well, ladies, it is the evening of May 1st (May Day!) and the beginning of a fantastic month of celebrating women!

Last year, thekatebeyond did the weekly newsletter and a lot of the posts. She's around but quieter because of RL... so! That means y'all have to pick up the slack!! :-) Seriously!

So, to start off 2009... a few reminders...

1. This is a moderated-post comm (means a moderator has to approve your post).... just to keep it positive.
2. Read the rules!
3. Follow the rules!
4. Ignore the words concerning the newsletter. Right now I cannot commit to that, trust me, it wouldn't happen with my current schedule. BUT instead, PLEASE! PLEASE! post a link to what you do in your journal in the comments of the prompt or challenge it is feeding. And if it is completely unrelated to a prompt/challenge but celebrating women or asking a Q, post it or a link in this comm!

Initial Challenge(s)

First, tell at least one of your friends about this Celebrate Women 2009 comm! Then make a promise to yourself to do at least one prompt or challenge from this Celebrate Women 2009 comm!

A bit of history: May Day

For those of you who wonder what exactly is May Day...
A.) May Day is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night. May Day marks the end of the uncomfortable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere, and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations, regardless of the locally prevalent political or religious establishment.
B.) May Day is synonymous with International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labour movement.
